Birch polypore contains polyporenic acids and betulinic acid, which exhibit bactericidal activities.

The mushroom also has anti-cancer effects, as it contains substances that inhibit the growth of cancer cells, as confirmed in studies conducted on the extract of its fruiting bodies.

Birch polypore has also been used for years in folk medicine as a means of boosting immunity and fighting inflammation.

It is particularly beneficial in the treatment of gastric diseases, inflammation of the mucous membranes of gastrointestinal organs, intestinal irritation and ulcers.

Many phytonutrients are present in the mushroom, including 17 fatty acids and beta-carotene bio-molecules with antioxidant properties (tocopherols, ascorbic acid, and lycopene).
